The Korean automobile maker Hyundai has confirmed the launch of its highly impressive sedan, the 2011 Hyundai Avante (known as the Elantra in the US). The new Avante will be launched in the US by the end of 2010.
The 2011 Avante made its debut at the 2010 Busan Auto Show held in Korea. Launched in Korea is an Elantra powered by a 1.6L GDI 4 cylinder engine that shoots out an impressive 140 bhp and torque of 171 Nm mated to a 6 speed automatic with shiftronic manual control or a 6 speed manual transmission.
The Korean automaker plans to sell a lot of the Avante overseas especially in the US and in the Europe. In Korea it is priced between 12000$ and 16000$. But the official US pricing will be unveiled closer to the launch. The new Avante is expected to give 39 miles per gallon.
On the design front, the Elantra follows the same concept that the Sonata followed – The Fluidic Sculpture. It is clearly the best looking hatch in the whole segment. Hyundai promised to get this car the best styling and performance in its class. If it performs well, it could be a success in the US.
“It encompasses our latest ambitions, features the best styling and performance in its class” told Steve S. Yang, President and CEO of Hyundai’s Global Business Division.
