Earlier in Munich at the art museum “Pinakothek der Moderne” was held the unveiling of the all new audi A7 Sportback which had been awaited by the people for a very long time. The German carmaker designed a new sleek 5 door model to compete with the all new Mercedes CLS, Porsche Panamera and the BMW 5 series Gran Turismo. The A7 sportback is the production version of the Sportback concept.
The Audi A7 sportback will be available at the dealers this fall while the US launch is not confirmed yet. The A7 will be starting from 51,600 Euros. The new A7 is powerful, fast, efficient, stylish and luxurious like all of its competitors. The Audi A7 sportback was built on the same grounds of the all new Audi A6.
The A7 sportback will come with a choice of two gasoline and two turbo diesel engines which features direct injection , an energy recuperation system and stop and start technology. The Petrol engines consist of a 2.8L FSI that produces 204bhp of power and torque of 280Nm that takes the A7 from 0-100(kmph) in 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 235kmph. This engine provides a fuel economy of 28.7 mpg and shoots emissions of 190 g/km.
The 3.0L supercharged V6 engine produces a massive 300bhp while providing torque of 440Nm which takes the car from 0-100(kmph) in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph. This engine gives a Fuel economy of 28.7 mpg and shoots emissions of 190 g/km.
On the diesel side, Audi offers 2 engines.
1. A 3L V6 TDI that produces 245bhp and shoots out a torque of 500Nm and is mated to a S tronic transmission and quattro all wheel drive. This engine takes the car from 0-100(kmph) in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph while giving a fuel economy of 39.2 mpg and shoots emissions of 158 g/km.
2. A 3.0L TDI that produces 204bhp that is available only with front wheel drive and mated to a multitronic automatic transmission. This engines takes the car from 0-100(kmph) in about 8.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 234 kmph while giving a Fuel economy of 44.4 mpg and shooting emissions of 139 g/km.
Audi is thinking of adding on a hybrid version of the car and performance versions of the car. To get more of the car, we need to wait till the car launches this fall. But we expect the A7 sportback to give tough competition to the new CLS class, the Porsche Panamera and the BMW 5 series gran turismo.
