Honda Civic Type R Production Being Stopped Due To Euro 5 Incompatibility

Honda has announced that its super hot high revving hatch, the Honda Civic Type R is going to be discontinued because its 2.0L engine is not compatible with the forthcoming Euro V emission norms. The Honda Civic Type R is a highly praised car and the enthusiasts will sure wonder why Honda has not developed a cleaner engine for the car than discontinuing it.

The Type R will no longer be sold in many areas of the continent by the end of 2010, except in those areas where the Euro V regulations rules do not apply. However, Honda will continue to produce the Type R in their Swindon factory and will supply to the Australian and South African markets where no such regulations exist for the Type R so that it cannot be sold.

The Type R was first unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Auto Show and started selling it since January 2007. The Civic Type R is a highly acclaimed hatch which hosts a 2.0L 4 cylinder i-VTEC engine that rages out an impressive 198 bhp of power and mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Critics and automobile journalists have gone gaga driving this mean machine and it will sure be missed.

Honda is arranging a meeting for all those Type R owners at the Silverstone race tracks British Touring Car Championship on the 22nd of August. The sales will end during December but Honda has already announced a discount of a whopping 2,230 Euros and will also offer better finance deals.

For those of you who dont mind burning some extra CO2 and for those of you who love performance in small packages, the Civic Type R is at its best buy right now. So don’t miss the opportunity of pouncing on this hot hatch. Get it when you can.
