So you want an iPad, but you just can’t afford the $600 it costs to own one? Well if you’re willing to wait a year, then you’ll be able to own something much like for less than $100. In fact, this newest device will cost you less than $50. The device doesn’t yet seem to officially have a name, but it was unveiled by Kapil Sibal, the Indian Minister for Human Resource Development, just this past week and it’s by far the cheapest laptop ever.
The machine is the latest in a string of cheapo products to come out of India just recently, and it has all the features that you would want in any netbook or laptop. You can browse the Web, send emails, perform word processing tasks, and do anything else that you would want to do on an iPad, or other laptop or tablet on the market. And, how much does this little beauty cost?
A mere $35 USD. Of course, you can add certain features, such as the innovative solar panel option, but that does drive the cost up a bit. No word on just how much yet, but it could be as much as a whopping $50. The newest, and by far the cheapest, laptop on the market is currently in production and is hoped to be hitting shelves in 2011.
